About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.

From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.

While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

LifeSpan Fitness EL3000i Elliptical Trainer Review

Bought my LifeSpan elliptical over a month ago. Delivered timely. Had a small leveling issue during assembly but now feels solid, no problems at all. Very smooth and fluid motion, and arm and leg movement is comfortable. Comes with a cool USB feature and LifeSpan Fitness Club membership. I save my workout data then upload it to my online account. On any given day or week I can see how long I exercised, how far I went, how many calories I burned and what my heart rate was doing. I also manually enter data from exercise I do outdoors, as well as track some vital stats like my weight, cholesterol, and blood pressure all in my account. I feel better and my account data shows it. A few more options would be great and LifeSpan said they're working on adding some new features (as you'd expect with any software program).
Overall, I'm pleased with my elliptical purchase and with the performance of the machine.

Product Description
Enjoy the benefits of a total body workout with little impact on your joints and back with the LifeSpan Fitness EL3000i elliptical trainer. Outfitted with a 20-inch stride length and narrow pedal spacing, the EL3000i supports your natural walking motion, with converging handlebars that let your arms flow naturally and with a greater range of motion as you exercise. For added comfort, the space between the treadmill's handlebars narrows as you extend your arms forward and then widens as you swing them by your side. And users will love the blue gel pad in each pedal, which is designed to absorb the impact from your heel. The pads provide ample cushioning to make your elliptical exercise more comfortable, yet safe for your hips, knees, feet, and joints.

The multicolored LCD console tracks your time, distance, calories, and more. The centerpiece of the EL3000i, however, is the multicolored LCD console, which offers several simultaneous readouts and exercise programs to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. The display tracks your time, calories, distance, steps, heart rate, speed, and resistance level, with large soft-touch keys helping you get started and control your resistance level. More importantly, the trainer offers a variety of preset workout programs that help you vary your exercise routine--a critical factor for people trying to get in shape. Many of the workout programs on the EL3000i are grouped by exercise motivation, so you can quickly choose a workout that's right for you. The program categories include weight loss (choose from steady pace, long slow distance, cardio run, short interval, or uphill walk); healthy living (with uphill climb, pyramid climb, plateau climb, ladder, and uphill interval options); and sports training (with each program designed to help you train for an upcoming sporting event).

In addition to the preset programs, the trainer offers two My Zone heart rate control programs and two custom programs. The My Zone Constant program keeps your heart rate at a constant level--thereby using your heart rate as a fitness tool--while the My Zone Interval program lets you enter your own minimum and maximum hear rate. As you exercise, the elliptical resistance will automatically adjust to keep your heart rate at the preferred level. By contrast, the custom programs are fully adaptable to your favored workout formula. That's because you're in charge of setting the resistance level for each of the 20 program segments, and then saving them for future use.

The trainer includes an 8-inch step height for easy on/off. As a bonus, when you purchase a LifeSpan EL3000i elliptical trainer, you automatically receive a membership for the LifeSpan Fitness Club. This comprehensive online health management program, powered by the Interactive Health Partner, lets you select exercise programs, track and manage your fitness and health results, and receive motivating support as you work toward achieving your goals. The LifeSpan Fitness Club is easy to use: each time you work out on the EL3000i, the trainer automatically saves your exercise results on your LifeSpan USB storage device (included). Because the USB is personalized with your age, gender, and weight, not only do you bypass setup screens, you also receive accurate calorie calculations based on your data. Every 20 seconds during your workout, the console will then record your heart rate, minutes, miles, steps, and calories. After your workout, you simply upload your results to your personalized online account on your computer using the USB device. You'll then have access to a full set of detailed reports and fun facts that you can analyze or share with friends, family, fitness coaches, or physicians.

Other details include an 8-inch step-up height that makes it easy to get on and off the trainer, built-in speakers and an integrated headphone jack, and front-mounted wheels for easy transport. The EL3000i measures 28 by 61 by 52 inches (W x H x D), supports up to 300 pounds, and carries the following warranties: lifetime on the frame and brake, three years on parts, and one year on labor.

About Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.

Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.

Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.

About Recumbent Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.

The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

LifeSpan Fitness TR200 Fold-N-Stor Compact Treadmill Review

I live in a downtown condo and wanted something compact to fit into my spare bedroom / office. I was looking at this unit which I bought and an Evolve treadmill. Both treadmill dimensions allow for under the bed storage or in my case under my futon which is what I was looking for. I also was looking for something that I could do some fairly consistent walking 3- 4 days at 20-30 minutes...I am not a jogger or runner (BTW I would not see this unit being ideal for real heavy running use). I was looking for a treadmill that I could use my iPod with which both units do. It came down to (2) factors for me why I picked the TR 200. The first is that my unit has incline which the other unit does not...I use the incline a lot to burn more calories and mix up my walks. What is really nice is since I change the incline often I use the buttons on the console that I can go to a specific incline. The second and not as important was that the motor size is a little bit bigger than the other compact units I looked at. The treadmill is 100% assembled in the box...I cut the back end of the box and rolled the treadmill out so I did not have to lift the treadmill out of the box. I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this treadmill for those limited on space or for walkers.

The treadmill also includes such controls as an easy-to-use start button, up/down arrow keys, and quick-start speed and incline buttons. The speed and incline buttons are particularly handy, with options on each side of the console display that let you skip directly to 3, 4, 5, or 6 miles per hour or incline level 4, 6, 8, or 10. And to make your workouts more efficient, the console offers six exercise programs that help you vary your exercise routine--a critical factor for people trying to get in shape.

Other features include built-in speakers and a headphone port for plugging in your iPod or MP3 player and contact heart rate grips.

LifeSpan Fitness TR1000-TV Folding Treadmill with 7-Inch Flat-Panel LCD TV Review

I dreaded two things about this machine when I ordered it.

Having to put it together and the size and performance of the 7" tv screen.

The dread was unecessary.

Pro's: The unit came already assembled and arrived in a fold down position. The only thing I had to do was put in a few holding bolts and attach the unit that held the tv and controls for the machine. The entire unit was up and running in less than 20 minutes.

I hooked up my Direct TV to the unit and the sound and picture quality was excellent. I was very surprised.

The unit is very sturdy and well made

Very quiet operation

The options that are built in include different modes such as distance traveled, calories burned, laps, heart rate etc.

There are tons of pre-set exercise options that can be accessed by the touch of preprogrammed buttons.

You can adjust the speed and incline by very convenient buttons located on each handle

Nice magnetic security feature with a magnetized lock that you can click on to your shirt....if you fall the magnetized lock seperates from the machine and it stops immediately.

Cons:

This unit is VERY heavy...300 lbs. It did help that the unit has built in wheels...but it will take two people to move this unit to where you wish to store it.

The TV is great...but the control counsel it sits on is a prefabricated, molded plastic that cannot be adjusted once installed making the angle of the tv such that the screen appears dark if you are not walking near the front of the unit. So unless you are very tall...you need to move up a to the front of the tread mill belt, walking more closely to the front of the unit instead of the middle to see the screen clearly. The TV should have been on some sort of swivel or pivot. It's a bit annoying but not a deal breaker.

I was fortunate to have the proper cables to connect my Direct TV satelitte to the unit..the unit comes with no connecting cables for TV, VCR , DVD etc.

Overall...it's a great machine for the money. 4 stars instead of 5 due to the tv angle and the weight of the machine.

Product Description
This easy-to-use, high-quality treadmill from LifeSpan Fitness is loaded with features designed specifically to meet the needs of walkers. Among the treadmill's most popular functions are speed and incline buttons on the handlebars, which let you adjust the speed and incline without removing your hands; eight compression shocks in the deck suspension to evenly absorb the impact of the foot strike while providing a firm pushoff at the end of each step; and several preset programs that make it easy to vary the incline and distance as you walk. Add them all up and you have an ideal treadmill for home workout enthusiasts.

The treadmill's console includes a built-in 7-inch, high-def LCD TV.LifeSpan knows that workouts can sometimes be tedious, which is why the company built a 7-inch, high-definition LCD TV into the console. Now you can jog along to your favorite TV show, whether it's a daytime soap, a basketball game, or a music program. The cable-ready TV also offers AV inputs and outputs, so you can hook up a DVD player or other video source in addition to a cable line. And unlike with most other TV treadmills, the TV component isn't connected to the treadmill itself. In other words, if something ever happens to the TV console, the treadmill will still operate--a feature that many mass merchant treadmills don't offer.

The TR1000-TV is also outfitted with a variety of workout programs--including six incline, five speed, and two custom programs--each of which is designed by an exercise physiologist to help you achieve a weight loss, exercise, or health-related goal. The My Zone heart rate program, meanwhile, monitors your heart rate and automatically adjusts the speed and incline to keep your intensity consistent throughout the workout. Best of all, it's easy to track your workout progress thanks to the large blue backlit display, which shows calories burned, workout time, current speed, current incline, heart rate, and distance traveled.

Other features include a 2-horsepower continuous-duty motor that supports speeds of up to 0.6 to 10 miles per hour, a 2.4-inch front roller that provides a smooth walking performance, and a high-quality running belt with a wax and silicone lubricant blend that minimizes belt friction and provides long-term protection against belt wear and tear. Finally, the TR1000-TV includes an EZ Drop folding system, which makes the treadmill easy to store.

Specifications

The EZ Drop folding system makes the treadmill easy to store.

LifeSpan Fitness EL1000 Elliptical Trainer Review

I really like my LifeSpan EL1000 elliptical and feel it is well worth my money. It's very smooth and gives me a fluid motion as I exercise. The walking stride and the arm movement are very natural. The elliptical console is colorful and tells me everything I need to know. The small size of the elliptical is great too. It is compact and doesn't take up much floor space, and even though our ceiling height is only 7 feet, my husband who is 6 feet tall can use it too. I've tried other elliptical trainers and this one is the best. My LifeSpan is easy to use and just feels good when I use it. It has helped me be healthier - I've lost weight and strengthened my arms and leg muscles. I got my elliptical within days of ordering. Assembly was faster than I expected with good instructions. One of the plastic covers over the handlebar joint didn't fit tight originally but I got it fixed quickly. I would recommend this elliptical.

Product Description
Enjoy the benefits of a total body workout with little impact on your joints and back with the LifeSpan Fitness EL1000 elliptical trainer. Outfitted with an 18-inch stride length and narrow 2.5-inch pedal spacing, the EL1000 supports your natural walking motion, with converging handlebars that let your arms flow naturally as you exercise. For added comfort, the space between the treadmill's handlebars narrows as you extend your arms forward and then widens as you swing them by your side. And users with small homes or apartments will love the EL1000's space-saving design, which is far smaller than commercial models. The trainer even includes a pair of front-mounted wheels, so you can roll it from room to room.

The multicolored LCD console tracks your time, distance, calories, and more. The real centerpiece of the EL1000, however, is the multicolored LCD console, which offers several motivating display readings and exercise programs to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. The display tracks your time, calories, distance, heart rate, speed, and resistance level, making it easy to track your workout progress. More importantly, the trainer offers eight preset workout programs that help you vary your workout--a critical factor for people trying to get in shape. The programs include weight management (steady pace and uphill walk), heart health (ladder and interval), uphill intervals, pyramid climbs, rolling hills, and plateau climbs. Each preset program offers your choice of three different intensity levels, with the ability to increase or decrease the resistance load during the workout. The interval programs are particularly challenging, as they alternate between a higher intensity level and a short recovery period, which helps maximize the total number of calories burned.

The EL1000 includes an 8-inch step height for easy on/off. In addition to the eight preset programs, the trainer offers two My Zone heart rate control programs and two custom programs. The My Zone Constant program keeps your heart rate at a constant level--thereby using your heart rate as a fitness tool--while the My Zone Interval program lets you enter your own minimum and maximum hear rate. LifeSpan Fitness TR 3000-HRC Treadmill Review

"Great price with free delivery from Amazon. Shipping was fast from company called CEVA. Assembly was easy and we had no issues. It is almost fully assembled in the box and the tools are also provided which was nice. Within 45 minutes we were trying it out. The treadmill can be folded while in the box which allows you to break the end of the box and wheel the treadmill out of the box and into its location instead of having to lift it up and out as I first thought that I may have to do. Treadmill has excellent reviews on-line. My wife wanted an iPod connection but told her that it was just something else that could go wrong...the treadmill is in front of a TV and she can wear her iPod if she wants to listen to music. We have only had it for a couple of months but so far so good."

Product Description
Selected as a Best Buy from Treadmill Doctor, this easy-to-use, high-quality folding treadmill from LifeSpan is loaded with features designed specifically to meet the needs of walkers. Among the treadmill's most popular functions are speed and incline buttons on the handlebars, which let you adjust the speed and incline without removing your hands; eight bumpers in the deck suspension to evenly absorb the impact of the foot strike while providing a firm pushoff at the end of each step; and several preset programs that make it easy to vary the incline and distance as you walk. Add them all up and you have an ideal treadmill for home workout enthusiasts.

The TR 3000-HRC is equipped with a 2.75-horsepower continuous-duty motor that supports speeds from 0.6 to 12 miles per hour, an 800-pound thrust, 2.5-inch precision ground rollers in the front that provide a smooth walking surface, and a 20- by 56-inch walking/running surface. Finally, the treadmill's console offers a heart-rate-controlled (HRC) program for more efficient workouts. Once you set your target heart rate, the console automatically maintains the heart rate using the grip pulse or your own heart rate chest strap. The advanced console also allows you to track you speed, incline, distance, heart rate, and body mass calculation.

The TR 3000 features an EZ-drop folding mechanism and folds to 39 inches long by 35 inches wide by 64 inches tall.

About Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

LifeSpan Fitness VP-1000 Vibration Plate Review

After working out on the uint for several weeks I have seen a difference in my level of flexibility and it has been a nice addition to my cardio and strength workouts. I first started using vibration therapy at my chiro's office.

Really interesting to get on the unit and stretch to touch your toes...after about 20-30 seconds of the unit being on you will gain a couple of inches of reach.

I like this unit more than the other units I tried because it does not vibrate as quickly which the other models caused pain for me when I used the units. I also really like the vibration pattern because it goes all directions and I can feel more in my core than I could on the the unit at my chiro's.

Great unit and nice compliment to my home gym. I would recommend this unit.

Product Description
Enjoy the benefits of whole body vibration using the LifeSpan VP1000 Vibration Plate. Its dual-motion design encompasses an up/down pivoting system and a secondary front/back pivot. The result is a multi-dimensional platform movement that enhances the benefits you'll receive from whole body vibration, including improved muscle strength, balance and flexibility. In addition to standing in an upright position, there are many other uses of the vibration plate to increase your physical activity and improve your strength, including calf stretches, lunges, squats, pushups, sit-up twists and tricep dips. Assembly is required.

How It Works
Whole body vibration is achieved by being on a platform that vibrates at a high frequency, causing your muscles to contract and stretch to maintain balance without your brain being actively involved. The rapid involuntary reflex intensifies even the simplest exercises. This fast repetition of your muscles reacting along with the controlled low impact to the bones creates the growth and strength.

The platform's design provides multi-directional vibration, with movement up and down, side to side, and front to back.

Enhance your workout routine with the VP-1000. The primary use of a vibration plate requires that you simply stand on the vibration plate in proper position while the vibration plate moves. Duration and frequency are important elements to consider in using a vibration plate. If you're physically fit, vibration exercise sessions should last no more than 15 minutes. If you're just beginning an exercise program, limit your time to 10 minutes per session. Whole body vibration should be used 2-3 times a week to supplement your cardiovascular workouts, with adequate time in-between sessions to recuperate.

About Whole Body Vibration
Vibration technology is relatively new to the fitness industry but the technology was developed in the 1960s for Russian cosmonauts to prevent muscle atrophy and loss of bone density due to the lack of gravity in space. This proven technology is now used by elite athletes, those rehabilitating from an injury, and those interested in expanding their exercise regiment to take advantage of the health benefits achieved by using whole body vibration.

Specifications:

  • 20 levels of vibration intensity
  • 5 preset workouts
  • Vertical and horizontal vibration
  • Motor: 1.2 horsepower
  • Maximum user weight: 300 pounds
  • Unit Weight: 105 pounds
  • Platform Height: 9 inches
  • Platform Area: 15 by 23 inches
  • Product Height: 55 inches

Manufacturer's Warranty
Five years for frame, one year for parts and labor

Get a more intense workout as you perform lunges, squats, calf raises, pushups, situp twists, and more.
