LifeSpan Fitness TR1000-TV Folding Treadmill with 7-Inch Flat-Panel LCD TV Review

I dreaded two things about this machine when I ordered it.

Having to put it together and the size and performance of the 7" tv screen.

The dread was unecessary.

Pro's: The unit came already assembled and arrived in a fold down position. The only thing I had to do was put in a few holding bolts and attach the unit that held the tv and controls for the machine. The entire unit was up and running in less than 20 minutes.

I hooked up my Direct TV to the unit and the sound and picture quality was excellent. I was very surprised.

The unit is very sturdy and well made

Very quiet operation

The options that are built in include different modes such as distance traveled, calories burned, laps, heart rate etc.

There are tons of pre-set exercise options that can be accessed by the touch of preprogrammed buttons.

You can adjust the speed and incline by very convenient buttons located on each handle

Nice magnetic security feature with a magnetized lock that you can click on to your shirt....if you fall the magnetized lock seperates from the machine and it stops immediately.

Cons:

This unit is VERY heavy...300 lbs. It did help that the unit has built in wheels...but it will take two people to move this unit to where you wish to store it.

The TV is great...but the control counsel it sits on is a prefabricated, molded plastic that cannot be adjusted once installed making the angle of the tv such that the screen appears dark if you are not walking near the front of the unit. So unless you are very tall...you need to move up a to the front of the tread mill belt, walking more closely to the front of the unit instead of the middle to see the screen clearly. The TV should have been on some sort of swivel or pivot. It's a bit annoying but not a deal breaker.

I was fortunate to have the proper cables to connect my Direct TV satelitte to the unit..the unit comes with no connecting cables for TV, VCR , DVD etc.

Overall...it's a great machine for the money. 4 stars instead of 5 due to the tv angle and the weight of the machine.

Product Description
This easy-to-use, high-quality treadmill from LifeSpan Fitness is loaded with features designed specifically to meet the needs of walkers. Among the treadmill's most popular functions are speed and incline buttons on the handlebars, which let you adjust the speed and incline without removing your hands; eight compression shocks in the deck suspension to evenly absorb the impact of the foot strike while providing a firm pushoff at the end of each step; and several preset programs that make it easy to vary the incline and distance as you walk. Add them all up and you have an ideal treadmill for home workout enthusiasts.

The treadmill's console includes a built-in 7-inch, high-def LCD TV.LifeSpan knows that workouts can sometimes be tedious, which is why the company built a 7-inch, high-definition LCD TV into the console. Now you can jog along to your favorite TV show, whether it's a daytime soap, a basketball game, or a music program. The cable-ready TV also offers AV inputs and outputs, so you can hook up a DVD player or other video source in addition to a cable line. And unlike with most other TV treadmills, the TV component isn't connected to the treadmill itself. In other words, if something ever happens to the TV console, the treadmill will still operate--a feature that many mass merchant treadmills don't offer.

The TR1000-TV is also outfitted with a variety of workout programs--including six incline, five speed, and two custom programs--each of which is designed by an exercise physiologist to help you achieve a weight loss, exercise, or health-related goal. The My Zone heart rate program, meanwhile, monitors your heart rate and automatically adjusts the speed and incline to keep your intensity consistent throughout the workout. Best of all, it's easy to track your workout progress thanks to the large blue backlit display, which shows calories burned, workout time, current speed, current incline, heart rate, and distance traveled.

Other features include a 2-horsepower continuous-duty motor that supports speeds of up to 0.6 to 10 miles per hour, a 2.4-inch front roller that provides a smooth walking performance, and a high-quality running belt with a wax and silicone lubricant blend that minimizes belt friction and provides long-term protection against belt wear and tear. Finally, the TR1000-TV includes an EZ Drop folding system, which makes the treadmill easy to store.

About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.

From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.

While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.
