GoFit Lifting Hooks Review

I use dumbbells and weight machines.A physical therapist recommended that I use hooks (or lifting straps) in order to avoid gripping too hard - a behavior that aggrevates my lateral epicondylitis (i.e. tennis or mouse elbow). These Gofit hooks will do the job; but I like the Harbinger hooks better - they have a larger hook and a longer wrist strap. The larger hook slips off less easily and the longer wrist strap makes them easier to put on. If you do any heavy lifting, I'd recommend the Harbinger also since they are more robust.

Product Description
The Go Fit Power Hooks are the perfect accessory to help fight hand fatigue and help you get the most out of those last reps. The steel hooks areenclosed in rugged nylon and simply hook over the bar or dumbbell, enhancing your grip. They are much simpler to use than traditional weight lifting straps. The neoprene wrist support provides firm yet comfortable support for heavy lifts. The GoFit Power Hooks are perfect for shrugs, dead lifts, lat pull downs, low pulls and pull ups.

Bernadette Giorgi: Attitude Tu Review

I'm a fitness professional and have been in the industry for over 15 years, so my fitness level is highly advanced. With that said, I didn't expect much from this workout--I thought it'd be too easy for me. However, I was surprised to find Attitude Tu is highly effective and challenging. I used the heaviest resistance band available, and got quite a burn in my muscles. This workout is a fantastic counterpart to my traditional heavy weight training, particularly the lengthening, ballet-type moves for the lower body. Definitely a keeper!

Cathe Friedrich's Butts & Guts & FREE Resistance Band Review

I'm an advanced exerciser and own many of Cathe's DVDs. If you're familiar with her workouts, you know she's good for delivering a challenge. This one is KILLER - the mother of all leg & glute workouts - and it'll turn you to mush. I have been on a P90X rotation for the past two months but dusted off Butts & Guts yesterday because I've really been missing it. Yowzas! I am feelin' it today!!

The workout as produced starts off with a warmup followed by standing leg work (including walking lunges, one-legged squats, hammer punches, lunge/squat combos, firewalkers, etc.) Then there's floor work using ankle weights (but believe me, you'll feel it w/out them), abs, and a stretch. There are also some bonus segments: stability ball abs, sit n' stands, leg presses, and glute squeezes.

What I appreciate about Cathe's workouts is that all of them are chaptered and come with several premixes as well as the option of mixing and matching. The 47.5 minute Leg Blast premix on this one is a torture session that'll leave your lower half screaming. (That's the one I did yesterday.) The other premixes include: a Standing Glutes & Abs Timesaver (49.5 min.), Overall Legs (65 min.) and Floor Work & Abs (59.5 minutes).

You'll need a resistance band, dumbbells, high step or Fanny Lifter, stability ball, ankle weights, and barbell (I have one but usually sub dumbbells.)

If you want great music, excellent cuing, and a super TOUGH, effective workout, look no further!

Fllor Work - 19 1/2 min. Core - 14 min. Stretch - 8 min. Bonus Stability Ball Abs - 15 min Bonus Lower Body - 6 min. The FREE Resistance band ($8.95 value) is a great addition to Cathe's other challenging workouts such as Drill Max, the Gym Styles, and many more (limit one free band per order).

Kettler HKS CTR3 Elliptical Cross-Trainer Review

This is the only elliptical machine that I have ever set-up or used, so my comments are probably most useful to the inexperienced. Most importantly, this machine offers a great work out, and it is as fun to use as any piece of exercise equipment that I can imagine. The stride movements are natural, and the included programs are challenging. (This does plug in, and this is not apparent in most photos.) If you are looking for a way to get exercise, then getting one of these machines is certainly something to consider. I do also have a Kettler spinning bike. I enjoy the bike, but the elliptical has more appeal to other family members. Also, while it is easier at my house to watch TV on my bike, I do get a better work out on the elliptical. There is no logic to this, I suppose, but this is my experience.

The machine looks great. There is certainly some ownership pleasure. This is not something that you would need to hide, nor does it take up a lot of space. You can find reviews on the Web with the German engineering comments, and this is probably true. This is basically a set of metal tubes, but it all comes together very well.

This arrives at your house in a big heavy box...not even a regular elliptical user can lift it. We have some steps. The delivery guy really made an effort to help me get this in the house, and I hope that you are that lucky. With two us we still had to open the box; the core flywheel unit is still one piece--good luck. My bike is upstairs, which was no cake walk, but the flywheel is not as heavy.

Also, I found the elliptical tough to assemble. Again, it was harder than the bike. I was missing two bolts, and it took two tries to get replacements to me. This sat unfinished for about a week. I have read some say it took an hour to put one of these together. Every one of these assembly jobs is different. Thinking about it now, with parts, an hour seems possible. Things went awry for us, and I am not sure exactly why. I did go and buy a metric wrench set (about $20,00) that helped me wrap this up once the parts arrived. Maybe we lost a wrench while this was sitting around awaiting parts, maybe the included wrenches did not work well enough, not sure. There are many bolts to tighten, and the wrenches I bought really made a difference. You want everything tight.

I gave this a four out of five, and I think this is a solid investment. Do think about the logistics, though. This is a big, heavy item with many parts to put together. I can say, though, that the assembly--and the price--were worth it. This machine certainly appears it will work well for many years.
