Most exercise equipment mats provide some padding.This is not a padding mat.It's rather stiff vinyl, and will protect from indentations and spills, but it won't cushion you much.It's also much thinner than other mats.All of which may be better or worse for your application than a thicker mat; for example, this line is perfect for under a treadmill.A minor problem is that it isn't perfectly rectangular.My guess is it is cut off of long rolls and sometimes the angle is a bit off.This only interferes with getting it to line up with both walls in a corner, and it is minor.
