And though the Dell Axim is certainly not famous for having wonderful battery life, with a extra battery it works wonderfully as an mp3 player during an intense gym workout. But having the pda strapped to the waist could be very jarring for the device as I go from treadmill to bicycle and is not how I want to treat my $400++ dollar baby.It was time for something else. After considering my options I knew that I wanted something slick (no fanny packs for your head :-) , something that was out-of-the-way kind of portable, and something very secure. My axim literally flew off my waist once with one of those crummy belt clips...never again.
This Sportline MP3 holder certainly wasn't easy to find but is just what I have been looking for. They don't seem to make any armband cases specifically for the Dell Axim (like they do for iPods for example), butthis will stretch to accomodate pretty much any such size device and hold it securely in place. The band has a good velcro attachment and is adjustable. The case has a very nice magnetic closure.I keep my axim x51v in one of those flexiskin silicone cases for that extra bit of protection, especially for when I take it out of the armband holder. The holder fits the axim with flexiskin very nicely.I know several people who own Palms in various versions, so I'm familar with their sizes as well. They would fit securely in this case. While (as I pointed out above) the Axim has terrible battery life (especially with music and video) and needs the additional power, I don't know if an axim (or any other PDA) would fit in the Sportline with a chunky extra battery attached.Especially given that the flexibility of the holder is in the mesh sides and therefore it is flexible along only that one dimension (width or length, however you are looking at it).
Hope you find this information helpful. Thanks for reading.
