Chen Style Tai Chi Old Form 1st Road Review

_Chen_Style_Tai_Chi_Old_Form_1st_Road is a DVD showing the complete form for 1st Road of Chen style Tai Chi. The form is demonstrated by Master Shu Dong Li, 20th generation Tai Chi master. 1st Road Chen style Tai Chi is a form that is mostly soft and relaxing, with a few fast hard movements.

Overall, it's a very good DVD. The form is shown in its entirety both from the front and back. Master Li performs the form very well, and has excellent posture and stance. During his performance of the form, scrolling text at the bottom of the screen shows the name of each sequence being performed. Once I developed a better ear for his accent, the step-by-step portion is very well explained. There is also some biographical data on Master Li.

I have a few minor nitpicks -- the volume of the opening narration is pretty loud, and it can be kind of startling the first time you watch the DVD. During the step-by-step explanation of the form, Master Li's accent can be hard to understand the first few time you listen to it.

No DVD can be a substitute for in-person instruction, but keeping that in mind this is an excellent DVD demonstration of the 1st Road of Chen style Tai Chi.
