Designed by Joseph Pilates, who originated the Pilates approach to exercising, this "barrel" is used for exercises to correct or restore the spine's natural curve. Exercising on the barrel strengthens abdominal, back, and shoulder muscles to keep the spine flexible. The chest opens, shoulders straighten, and any humpback disappears. An open chest allows for easer, deeper breathing. The Spine Corrector Barrel workout also tones and trims thighs and strengthens the body's core. The barrel is accompanied by a 20-minute workout video featuring Master Pilates Instructor Romana Kryzanowska and Elite Pilates Trainer Marjolein Brugman. Brugman explains and demonstrates each of 14 exercises shown on the video. The barrel measures 27-1/7 inches x 17-1/2 inches x 13-1/2 inches and weighs 18 pounds. Handles on the side that are used for specific exercises can also be used to move the barrel around.
